My wife was driving down the road when she heard Isaac from the backseat. He was complaining to her about how bumpy the road was and wanted her to do something about it. She told him that there was nothing that she could do about it because it was the road they were on.
Sometimes we encounter “bumps in the road” as we call them. The car breaks down, the roof leaks, trouble at work, sickness, etc. Whatever it might be, trouble happens. When it happens sometimes we get this strange idea that God has forgotten us or something of that nature. We forget that Jesus said in this world, you will have trouble (John 16:33 Easy English). He told us that trouble was going to happen.
We must remember this so that we don’t get derailed by some trouble that comes on us and let it drive a wedge between God and us. There is a beautiful verse in the Psalms that says he shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him (Psalm 91:15 KJV). There are a few things that we can glean from this. One is that we can call on God and He will be with us in trouble. The thing is though that He cannot be with us in trouble if we do not experience trouble. In the trouble though we can take heart that He will be with us and deliver us.
So when you encounter trouble remember that it’s just the road of life that we are on and that comes with those bumps in the road. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33 KJV).
1 Peter 4:12 ISV Dear friends, do not be surprised by the fiery ordeal that is taking place among you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.
Psalm 34:19 KJV Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
