Have you ever fallen in love? You meet someone that you feel that deep connection to. The more you talk, the more you want to talk. The more time that you spend together, the more time you want to spend together. When you talk to your friends their name keeps coming up. Soon your friends are their friends and their friends are your friends. You stop going to some places that you used to go because it doesn’t fit your relationship, because that is how a committed relationship works. The closer you become the more you become one unit. When others speak of you they speak of the other.
This is what it is like when you truly fall in love with Jesus. You want to be in communication with Him more and more. You want to spend more time with Him. You want to go to church more and spend time with His friends. You change what you listen to, what you watch, where you go. Because these things aren’t leading you closer to Him, but away from. Again that’s how committed relationships work. You strive to get closer to Him. It becomes evident to those around you that when they talk about you that Jesus comes up. This is what it is like to fall in love with Jesus.
As the old song goes, falling in love with Jesus was the best thing that I’ve ever done. It can be the best thing you’ll ever do too. My son Josh recently shared a quote that he had heard with me. I don’t live for God to make my life better, I live for God because He is better than life. Do you want something better than life? Fall in love with Jesus, He’s already in love with you.
1 John 4:19 KJV We love him, because he first loved us.
James 4:8 KJV Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Psalm 63:3 KJV Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
