Have you ever seen something growing where it shouldn’t be? It may be in a rain gutter on a roof top, through the crack in the cement or the side of a building. Wherever it may be it’s right there growing. It’s going against the odds to stay alive and produce where it is.
There is a story in 2 Kings 5 about Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper (2 Kings 5:1 KJV). He has all these accomplishments, but he had a problem that he could not handle. There was somebody near him that knew the answer though. A young servant girl, not just any servant girl. No, she had been brought from Israel as a captive and was now a servant to Naaman’s wife. She is a slave, taken from her homeland serving foreigners in their land. It would be an understatement to say that this was not her plan. She didn’t want to be here serving somebody else, but here she was. She made a decision though. She may not could control where she was, but she could control how she was. She decided to bloom where she was and that is exactly what she did. And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy (2 Kings 5:3 KJV). This is exactly what happened. Naaman gets healed of his leprosy, but it may have never happened had it not been for a servant girl that decided that she was going to bloom where she was planted.
You may be in a situation that you do not want to be in. Be it your job, where you live, where you go to school, sick at the doctor’s office etc. You may even be angry because you feel like God should have taken you out of this situation by now. What if God has you in that situation for a purpose? What if there is someone there ate up with leprosy, which is a type of sin, and they need you to point them to the one that can get them out? What if they are hurting and don’t know that there is a God that loves them and wants to help them? Are you willing to bloom where God has planted you to reach someone?
Jesus said The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest (Matthew 9:37-38 KJV). Laborer means worker, are you willing to work in the field? Understanding that the field is the world (Matthew 13:38 KJV). Be willing to be inconvenienced for a soul. Be willing to be in a place that you don’t want to be to reach somebody that you otherwise would never meet. Don’t let your test affect your testimony. Be willing to bloom where you are planted.
1 Corinthians 7:20+24 NET Let each one remain in that situation in life in which he was called. 24 In whatever situation someone was called, brothers and sisters, let him remain in it with God.
