We had a storm blow through one evening at home that got kinda rough. The next day I was cleaning up the mess that had been made. There were trash cans all over the place, debris, stuff knocked over, etc. I walked by one trash can that was still standing and noticed that it had trash in it. I thought to myself, “I’m glad that didn’t fall over because there would be trash all over.” I pushed on the trash can and realized why it didn’t fall over. It was nearly full of water, making it heavy.
Storms of life are inevitable. In life we will encounter storms. How do we withstand the storm though? If we stay full of the Spirit(Ephesians 5:18 BBE) we can withstand life’s storms that come at us. Even if we have our junk that has been dumped on us, we won’t dump this out for others to have to deal with because we will be anchored in Christ. Everything may be falling apart around us, but we won’t fall apart inwardly if we are full of the Spirit.
When we are full of the Spirit we can experience the words in Psalm 91:5-9 (KJV) Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation.
Make God your dwelling place, your anchor that holds you during the storm, and be filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost (Acts 13:52 KJV).
Galatians 5:25 KJV If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Romans 15:13 NET Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
