We live in a world where people seem to always be plugged into some type of technology. You see people all the time that can’t go a few minutes without checking their smartphones. There seems to be this constant need to be entertained.
There is a big push for people to unplug themselves from technology for a time. This is because of all the negative effects of constantly being plugged in. To “unplug yourself” means to intentionally disconnect from digital devices, daily demands, and distractions to relax, recharge, and focus on self-care and real-world connections. This deliberate break allows for mental and emotional rest, reducing stress and anxiety, improving focus, and promoting overall well-being by providing space for self-reflection and a break from the constant stimulation of modern life. This includes putting away smartphones, computers, and other screens that bombard you with constant information and notifications.
We must unplug for a time to spend time with those around us. We must also do this to spend time with Jesus. The constant need to be entertained can interfere with all of our relationships including our relationship with our Savior. We want healthy relationships then we must put forth the effort to make it happen. It’s not all going to just fall in place, it takes work.
We want to have a walk with God that makes a difference, then we have to work at it. We can be constantly entertained or we can be anointed, but not both. Remember that God said: I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God (Exodus 20:5 ISV).
We must live a life dedicated to God throwing off everything that hinders us and especially the sin that so easily entangles us, let us keep running with endurance the race set before us (Hebrews 12:1 ISV).
