The Ingredients

When my oldest daughter Kathryn was very young she developed an issue. She would randomly throw up. It took some time to figure it out because it was so random. Eventually though my sister Brenda brought up that it may be a reaction to Red 40. You may be like I was asking, what is Red 40? Well Red 40 is a dye found in a lot of food and drinks, and I mean a lot. How do I know, because that was exactly what was wrong and needed to be eliminated totally from her diet. This meant reading every ingredient label. Because if she ingested any Red 40 she would immediately have an adverse reaction.

We must be attentive to what we allow in our lives. By what we look at, listen to or otherwise entertain or rather ingest into our souls. The ingredients that we let in may be causing an adverse reaction.

Have you ever randomly get thoughts that you wonder where they come from? Not just any random thought, but something that goes against your way of thinking. Something that goes against your convictions. You may think “where did that come from?” Ask yourself this question. How much time am I spending scrolling on social media, watching different forms of entertainment? Have I paid attention to what has passed in front of my eyes or aimlessly clicked one video after another? These things are important because the eyes are the windows to the soul. Or as the Word says the eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,  your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! (Matthew 6:22-23 NLT).

Be careful, therefore, that the light that is in you is not darkness (Luke 11:35 AMP).

So always pay attention to the ingredients to what you allow in your life so you don’t inadvertently harm yourself.

Proverbs 4:23-25 KJV 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. 24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. 25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
