Stop Horsing Around

My sister Carla, my daughter Hannah and I once had the task of moving my brother Cecil’s horse. Someone had volunteered their trailer and their time to come help. The problem was that this horse hadn’t been in a trailer since it was little. He had lived in this one spot most of his life. This is what he was used to. Which meant that it didn’t want anything to do with going in the trailer. We tried coaxing it with carrots and sweet feed. We tried roping it. We finally had to corral it into a pen and force it into the trailer, by using a gate and pressing it in. Now the thing was that we were moving this horse to a better place. We were moving it to a 20 acre pasture with other horses. This was for the horse’s benefit. All the horse knew was that something was different and it was not going along with it.

We too sometimes encounter situations where God is trying to move us into a different place. Because we don’t know what’s going on we resist. We are used to where we are and fear the change that is front of us. So we push back and we draw back. Even though God may start gently sometimes He may have to press us into what He wants for us. It may get very tight as God presses us into what we need to do, but know that it is for our benefit. Don’t resist it just because it’s different, don’t fight back. If God is moving you towards a change then accept it and move with Him.

Psalm 32:8-9 KJV 8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. 9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
