The Sun Still Shines

You know there’s something that we don’t think about much. The sun is always shining. I know it seems simple, but think about it. In the middle of the night the sun is still shining. No, you may not see it where you are, but it’s still shining. You do see the results of its light though. You see the moon and the moon doesn’t have any light, but rather gets its light from reflecting the sun’s light. Even if there is a storm that blocks you from seeing the sun, it doesn’t mean the sun is not shining. Just because you can’t see the sun doesn’t mean it’s not shining. The sun is always shining.

The characteristics of God are like the sun. His goodness, mercy, compassion, faithfulness, holiness, love are unaffected by circumstances. We may be in a dark season and we can’t see or feel these at the place we are at, but they are unchanging. The storm we are going through, the darkness we encounter, the trials, the heartache, none of these things affect God’s characteristics. Yes, these things may affect our perception, but they do not change who God is. As He says I am the LORD, I change not (Malachi 3:6 KJV).

When the disciples were in the storm Jesus came walking to them on the water. Who He is, was unaffected by the storm, by the instability that they were in, by their fear, by the doubt. God is still God. He is Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8 KJV).

So when you’re going through a dark season remember God is still the same.

James 1:17 BBE Every good and true thing is given to us from heaven, coming from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change or any shade made by turning.

2 Corinthians 4:6 KJV For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
