Keep The Fire Burning

There was an old man that I knew that always kept a fire in his fireplace and I mean always. It would be the middle of summer and he’d have a fire going in his fireplace. I asked him why once and he said, “I just like a good fire.”

In the Word the fire is often a reference to the Holy Ghost. John the baptist said in Luke 3:16 (KJV) I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.

We must keep the fire of the Holy Ghost burning within us. We can’t let it die out. As it says in Leviticus 6:13 (NET) A continual fire must be kept burning on the altar. It must not be extinguished.

If we keep the fire burning it will burn out the impurities in our lives. It will lead us to an altar of repentance. It will lead us to what is true and holy. The light from the fire will light a way for those that are lost to find their way to Jesus. Then we can fulfill the scripture that says even so let your light be shining before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16 BBE).

For this reason, I am reminding you to fan into flames the gift of God that is within you…(2 Timothy 1:6 ISV).

Romans 12:11 NIRV

Never let the fire in your heart go out. Keep it alive. Serve the Lord.
