I can’t tell you how many times I have pulled up behind a car stopped at a stop sign just sitting there. I inevitably will say, “right or left, make a decision.”
Many times people get caught in being indecisive. It may be at a stop sign, the restaurant or unfortunately sometimes in the kingdom of God. The first 2 aren’t that big of a deal. The third though is eternally important.
Joel would say multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision (Joel 3:14 KJV).
If you find yourself in the valley of decision wondering what to do. Wondering if you should turn loose of the life you have always known for the unknown. Wondering if you should reconsider what you have always believed. Is following Jesus what you should do with your life? Or do what’s comfortable for you presently and continue doing things your way?
Terah found himself in the valley of decision in Genesis 11. Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran (Genesis 11:31-32 KJV).
Terah was headed to Canaan, but stopped short in Haran. He became comfortable there and died there.
The very next chapter God calls Abraham (then Abram) out of Haran to go to Canaan. What does he do? Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him…he departed out of Haran. …and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came (Genesis 12:4-5 KJV). He made his decision and stuck to it.
If you find yourself in the valley of decision don’t tarry long. The longer you stay in the valley the more comfortable you’ll be there.
Elijah would say how long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him (1 Kings 18:21 KJV).
Joshua would say if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD (Joshua 24:15 KJV).
Choose to leave the valley of decision, by choosing to serve the Lord today.
2 Corinthians 6:2 KJV …behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
